MBBS is still considered lucrative in Nigeria, but the rewards now come with significant challenges. Medicine remains a respected and in-demand profession because healthcare needs keep increasing with population growth. Qualified doctors can earn stable incomes through government hospitals, private practice, locum jobs, NGOs, or international opportunities. However, long years of study, high training costs, residency bottlenecks, poor working conditions, strikes, and relatively low government salaries can delay financial comfort. Many doctors improve earnings by specializing, working in private facilities, combining clinical work with business, or migrating abroad. So, while MBBS is still lucrative in the long run, success now depends on patience, passion, continuous training, and strategic career choices rather than quick financial returns.
