Once you accept admission on JAMB CAPS, it can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks for your school to finalize it.
Let me break it down for you:
JAMB CAPS acceptance means you’ve confirmed the admission offered by JAMB. But that doesn’t automatically mean your school has uploaded your details fully yet or issued you admission letters internally.
If your school has already uploaded your admission list, the process is usually faster—between 2 to 14 days.
If it’s a federal university like UNIBEN or UNILORIN, they tend to sync faster with JAMB.
Polytechnics and state universities sometimes delay because they wait for full batches to complete before updating the system.
What you should do while waiting:
Keep checking your school’s admission portal.
Make sure your O’level results have been uploaded on JAMB CAPS.
Print your admission letter from JAMB once it’s live.
If it takes over 3 weeks, contact your school’s admission office.
Don’t just wait blindly o—JAMB don do their part, na your school you suppose dey follow up now.

Yes, it is possible to gain admission to some Nigerian universities without writing the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination. While JAMB is the primary body for university admissions in Nigeria, certain institutions and programs offer alternative routes.
Like certain private universities have their own admission processes and may not require JAMB scores for entry, particularly for certain programs.
We also have the Open and dstance learning Universities:The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) and other open and distance learning institutions recognize qualifications like WAEC/NECO results for direct entry, eliminating the need for JAMB.
The Pre-degree/Remedial Programs where Some universities offer pre-degree or remedial programs that prepare students for university studies. when you Successfully complete these programs you can lead to direct admission without JAMB for specific courses.
