Would you retire in a cheaper location?

When you ultimately retire, would you go to cheaper locations, country side for example,  so that you can minimize your living expenses, or do you think you will continue to live in the same place where you lived your active years?

My dad, while he was still in service, built a house in the village that he would retire to. And after retirement, he retired to the village which is much cheaper than the city. And that seems to be a smart financial decision he made. He is able to live and meet his basic needs living there because it is far cheaper than the city. He also gets to involve in farming there which he can’t do in the city, further helping him save money. Retiring to a cheaper location is always a smart decision.

Honestly, moving to a cheaper place when you retire can really help stretch your savings and reduce stress from high living costs. Places like the countryside or smaller towns often offer a quieter, slower lifestyle, which many retirees enjoy. But it’s important to also think about access to good healthcare, safety, and staying close to family or friends. If you plan well and choose a place that meets your needs, retiring somewhere affordable can make your retirement years more comfortable and worry-free.

I think south Asia is cool, countries like Thailand and Philliphenes, they are cheaper and more easier to live in on a small income compared to island countries like Japan and Singapore
