I’m a beginner so I put it in the Beginners & Help section.
Coinbase offers “Cosmos” with an annual return of 17.66%.
I’ve done some research on Cosmos and its future looks bright.
According to my research, it is advisable to bet only on major platforms, such as Coinbase.
I realize the downside is that you freeze your money for a while. Another downside is that due to the ups and downs of cryptocurrencies, you can lose money in the event of a crash. But that is true of any cryptocurrency, including BTC.
As far as I can tell, the annualized return remains at 17.66% over the term.
Is there a downside I’m missing?
Why don’t people just buy cryptocurrencies they can bet on?

Staking cryptocurrency is a process where you lock up a certain amount of tokens in a wallet to support the operations of a blockchain network, validate transactions, and earn rewards in the form of additional tokens. Staking can be an attractive option for individuals looking to earn passive income from their cryptocurrency holdings. However, whether or not to stake depends on several factors that you should consider:
Understanding Staking Mechanism: Before staking, it’s crucial to understand how the staking mechanism works for the specific cryptocurrency you’re interested in. Different cryptocurrencies have different staking requirements, rewards structures, and potential risks.

I never advise people to invest and stake crypto, but I only provide information and guidance either on blogs or forum sites. You can stake not all coins, only coins that implement the PoS consensus mechanism, such as ADA, Sol, Ethereum, Cosmos etc. You can stake coins on staking pools like crypto exchanges Binance, Coinbase, Kraken etc and you can also stake crypto on personal wallets Atomic wallet, Trust wallet, hardware wallet etc. Of course the reward given by pool staking will be smaller than you staking on a personal wallet.
For example, if you stake Cosmos on a personal wallet, you will get a 20.4% reward, but if you stake Cosmos on Coinbase, you will only get a 17.66% reward.
Of course there are disadvantages, as long as your coin (Cosmos) is locked or frozen you cannot use it for transactions, therefore if you unlock and take your coins, and you deposit Cosmos again, the stake will start from the beginning.

Whether to advise people to stake depends on various factors. Staking refers to the act of holding and validating cryptocurrency tokens in a digital wallet to support the security and efficiency of a blockchain network. Staking can be profitable, as it often offers rewards or earnings for participants. However, it also involves risk, such as potential loss of funds due to market fluctuations or vulnerabilities in the underlying blockchain technology. Therefore, advising people to stake should take into account their risk tolerance, understanding of the cryptocurrency market, and familiarity with the specific blockchain project they intend to stake on. It is crucial to research and understand the risks and benefits associated with staking before giving advice, as it may not be suitable for everyone.
