A lot of the time, paid writing websites are unable to pay writers because they can’t create sustainable revenue models. Many of these websites generate revenue from advertising (specifically Google AdSense), and when traffic to a website falls off and advertisers are no longer willing to pay as much for ads, or when the costs for running a website increase, it’s difficult for them to continue providing the same level of compensation to writers. There are also some online writing websites that face difficulties with producing low-quality or spam-like content (e.g., fake content). Sustainable writing sites typically create multiple sources of income as opposed to relying only on advertising.

There was a time when so many paid to post forums stopped paying suddenly and others cut their pay rates drastically. It all happened almost at the same time and it was so understandable given the high inflation and economic struggles that most of us were facing. But then things improved and they started paying, though with not so high rates as before. So the economy changes can make many writing sites to stop paying. I guess the issue affects ad networks which makes them reduce their payment to these websites, this makes them lose value and stop paying writers or cut their rates.
