Losing your PVC can be stressful, but you can still get a replacement without much hassle if you follow these steps:

    1. Visit your local INEC office: Head to the INEC office in your LGA or ward where you originally registered.
    2. Bring a valid ID: Any government-issued ID like your driver’s license, national ID, or even your birth certificate.
    3. Fill out a PVC replacement form: They’ll give you Form EC9A (Application for Replacement of PVC).
    4. Provide your details: Your full name, date of birth, and registration details to help them find your original record.
    5. Pay the prescribed fee: Usually around ₦1,000 to ₦2,000 but check your local office.
    6. Wait for processing: It can take a few weeks. INEC will either print a new PVC or reissue the old one after confirming your identity.

    Important:
If you registered recently, you might qualify for a Temporary PVC, valid for the upcoming election, while your replacement is processed.
    Advice:
Avoid buying PVCs from touts or illegal sellers. Only trust the official INEC channels to avoid scams or invalid PVCs.

If you want a physical bank:

    • GTBank is fast if your BVN matches your ID.

    • FirstBank takes longer, but they do campus drives.

    • Opay is fast too, but mostly for transfers—not ideal for school clearance or NYSC.

Try this: Download Kuda or GTWorld, open your account, and see which one sends you your account number first. Speed test them yourself.

If speed is your priority, here’s a quick breakdown of the fastest Nigerian banks for student account opening in 2025:

    • Kuda Bank: Fully digital, open an account in under 5 minutes with just BVN and valid ID. No branch visit required.
    • Opay: Account setup is instant via app, though card delivery can take up to 2 weeks.
    • GTBank: Fast online application through GTWorld app; some users may still be asked for branch verification.
    • FirstBank: Firstmonie Student Account via USSD or app; quick setup but longer card activation times.

Bonus: Some universities partner with Zenith and Access Bank to provide on-campus account openings that can be done in minutes during registration.
    Advice:
Have your BVN updated and ID ready. Inconsistent data is the biggest cause of delays.
    Challenge:
Try opening an account with Kuda or Opay now and test how fast it really is compared to your friends. Report back your experience.

From my experience and what I’ve seen among students in Lagos and Abuja, the fastest banks to open student accounts online in 2025 are:

    • Kuda Bank – Truly digital. You can open an account in under 5 minutes via the app, with just your phone, BVN, and valid ID. No branch visit needed.
    • Opay – Also fast and mostly paperless. The app lets you create an account and order a card easily. Card delivery might take 2–3 weeks though.
    • GTBank – With their GTWorld app, account opening is almost instant online, but sometimes they ask you to visit a branch to verify your ID for full functionality.
    • FirstBank – Their Firstmonie Student Account can be opened quickly via app or USSD (*894#), but card activation and full services can take longer.

    Pro Tip:
If you’re in school, check if your institution partners with a bank for on-campus registration drives. Many times, banks like Zenith or Access Bank set up pop-up registration stalls that get you instant verification.
    Challenge:
Try opening a Kuda or Opay account today. They’re mobile-first and save you the usual bank queue stress. Just ensure your BVN is active and details match your ID to avoid delays.

GTBank is currently one of the fastest banks for opening a student account in Nigeria, especially if you start online or through their mobile app.

Answered by: Jerry_E (Student in UniBen – 300 level)

I opened my GTBank GTCrea8 account in less than 15 minutes using their app—no stress. All I needed was my school ID, phone number, and BVN. After submitting, I got my account number instantly and picked up my ATM card at the branch later that week.

Here are other good options too:

Access Bank Student Account (Solo Account) – Takes 1–2 working days if done in-branch.

First Bank XploreFirst – Requires physical form filling but works well for NYSC and students under 25.

Opay or PalmPay – Not traditional banks, but they allow fast account creation without documents. Useful if you just need to receive or send money quickly.

But GTBank still stands out for speed and usability. Just download the app and follow the steps—if you already have BVN, it’s straightforward.

Naija wahala too much—no let long bank queue frustrate your academic runs. Go for the ones that respect your time.
