    – Cut discretionary expenses like dining out, entertainment, subscriptions or memberships. Pack lunches and limit spending on wants.

    – Find a side gig like freelancing, rideshare driving or participating in focus groups. Use this extra income directly for savings.

    – Sell unused items around the house on Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist or OfferUp. Clear out clutter and earn extra cash.

    – Negotiate bills to lower monthly costs for cable, internet, insurance and more. Every bit of reduction counts.

    – Participate in the sharing economy by using apps to rent out parking spaces, equipment or rooms to generate savings.

    – Ask for a raise or promotion at work if it’s been a while. Even a small bump in pay can make a difference.

    – Open a high-yield savings account to earn more interest on your growing savings balance.

    – Put windfalls like tax refunds, rebates or gifts directly into savings when you receive them.

    – Automate transfers from your checking account to savings account to force recurring savings.

With focused effort directed specifically at saving over spending, $1,000 by December is an very achievable target. You’ve got this!
