Is all depends on your targeting business.

You loan amount can be determined by your investment capital, your required money may not be lower than your business capital.

let take for example, If you’re investing on real estate, I don’t think you will apply for a small amount of loans because real estate business required big money.

But if you want to invest on something like selling airtime or so, your business capital might not all that big.

There are pros and cons to both small and big loans. Here are some factors to consider when deciding between a small or big loan:

    Pros of a small loan:

    • Easier to qualify – Lenders often have lower credit score and income requirements for smaller loans. This makes them more accessible.
    • Lower monthly payments – A smaller principal amount means your monthly payments will be lower and more manageable.
    • Shorter repayment terms – Many small loans have terms of 1-5 years. This allows you to pay them off quickly.
    • Lower interest costs – You pay less total interest the smaller the loan size, saving you money.
    • Easier to pay off – It may be simpler to pay off a small loan entirely compared to a big one.
    • Less risk – If you default on the loan, it impacts you less with a lower balance due.

    Pros of a big loan:

    • Allows bigger purchases – You can buy higher-value items like a home.
    • Consolidate debt – You can roll multiple debts into one larger consolidated loan.
    • Lower interest rate – Bigger loan amounts sometimes qualify you for a lower interest rate.
    • Build credit – Managing a large loan responsibly helps build your credit history.
    • Cost efficiency – A $10,000 5-year loan costs less overall than a $5,000 2-year loan, for example.

So in summary, small loans are easier to obtain and manage, while big loans enable bigger purchases. Evaluate your budget, needs, and repayment ability to decide what works best.

The biggest risk of a loan is if you are unable to pay, not the size of the loan, if you have taken a large loan but you are smooth and on time paying installments there will never be a problem, but even if you only take a small loan you are always late paying installments even If you often get stuck, there will be problems with your credit score. So basically what is measured in debt or loans is the ability to pay, not the size of the loan, for example, to measure short-term loans/debt you can use the current ratio formula, while to measure the total loan you can use the debt to equity ratio.

Deciding whether a small loan or a big loan is better depends on the individual’s specific situation and needs. Consider the following factors:

    • Purpose: Determine the purpose of the loan. If it is for a specific project or investment with a high potential return, a big loan might be more suitable. However, a small loan may suffice for short-term or immediate needs.
    • Repayment capabilities: Assess your financial capability to repay the loan. A small loan may be easier to manage as it typically carries lower monthly payments. A big loan might burden your finances and result in higher interest payments over the long term.
    • Interest rates: Compare interest rates for different loan sizes and terms. Larger loans may come with higher interest rates, resulting in increased overall costs.
    • Creditworthiness: Lenders consider credit scores when approving loans. A smaller loan might be more accessible for individuals with lower credit scores, whereas larger loans may require better creditworthiness.
    • Future financial goals: Consider the impact of the loan on your future financial goals. A larger loan may limit your ability to save or invest for other purposes.

Ultimately, carefully evaluate your needs, financial capabilities, and long-term goals to determine the loan size which best fits your situation.
