It’s not wrong at all to ask a customer for an advance payment actually, it’s a smart business practice, especially for freelancers or small businesses. Asking for upfront payment helps protect you from the risk of non-payment after you’ve done the work. It also shows that the client is serious and committed. Of course, how you ask matters being professional and clear about why you need the advance can make customers feel more comfortable. In the end, it’s about building trust on both sides, and a fair advance payment helps keep things balanced.
