This is a yes and no answer depending on the individual. There are some persons who end up spending too much within the month with expectations that once they get paid they would sort out all their debts. They would end up taking various loans and fall into debts. This situation usually occurs when the expenses are more than the monthly income. This is why most people do not rely on monthly income alone.

Debts aren’t caused by monthly revenue alone; it’s how it’s managed that counts. Debt can result from poor money management or excessive expenditure compared to income. To avoid debt, people must budget carefully, live within their means, and prioritize saving. Regardless of monthly income, unanticipated costs, emergencies, or careless financial decisions can still result in debt. Effective money management is essential to preventing unneeded debt accumulation.

Money earning monthly can influence your ability to manage debt, but it doesn’t directly cause debt. Debt is typically the result of borrowing money through loans, credit cards, or other forms of credit.
If your income is higher, you may have an easier time making payments and reducing your debt. If your income is low, it can be more challenging to manage and pay off debt, potentially leading to financial difficulties. So, while income and debt are related, monthly income alone doesn’t cause debt; it’s how you manage your finances and borrowing that matters.

Well my take on this, depends on the country you come from, lets take for example nigeria, the cost of goods and services increases and never decreases. But the income of salary earners remain the same, this could lead to owing debts for things you purchase, unless the salary earner has other means to make money or other sources of income, the little amount of salary he or she earns cannot be managed. Let say someone earns 30k a month, even if he’s not married yet, minus his t-fair, house rent per month, feeding, tax, miscellaneous how much is he expect to save at the end.

Monthly income does not necessarily cause debt, to whoever that is calculative on how he or she spends money, manages finances if there’s different source of making it happen and also mostly when you know the hardships facing the economy of whichever country it is.

In my own point of view, i think monthly income can cause debts. Why does monthly income causes debts? Because we have so many bills to attend to almost everyday, so waiting till month ends might put you in debts, because the period will be long. At the same time, if we manage our money and resources well, we may not fall into debts, we’ll manage what we have until we get our salary at the end of the month. So this simply means, we should manage our money properly.

Underemployment is another cause where one is paid little money for a job. Some people on lower income jobs may find it hard to meet their bills or put money into savings because there isn’t much money

Over time, your debt can grow because of interest, fees, and penalties.  if you take out a loan for ‍ with an annual interest rate of ‍ , your total debt will grow by ‍ each year, even if you don’t borrow any more money.

Monthly income itself doesn’t cause debt; rather, mismanaging it can lead to debt. If expenses consistently exceed income, individuals may rely on loans or credit, similar to the risks of overextending with personal loans discussed earlier.

However, by overspending on non-essentials, without budgeting, creates financial strain, as cautioned in financial lessons for kids. Low or irregular income can also push people toward borrowing for necessities, like medical emergencies or housing, as noted with justifiable loans. Failing to save for unexpected costs, akin to not planning in business, increases debt risk. Poor financial habits, like ignoring interest rates on loans, compound the issue, mirroring digital banking risks.
