Is it Better to Regret What You Did Than What You Didn't?

When you grow old, you will have the knowledge of the things you did and those you didn’t. Things will be clearer and depending on the level you are at that time. Rich or poor, you will have your thoughts. Probably on things you should have done to change your state that you didn’t do. Even when you failed trying, you will be glad you exhausted all options just that they didn’t work, then no regrets, you did your best.

Achievement and Success most times come from our falls. This is because redoing that thing will give us the success we didn’t have the first time. : Putting in our best effort increases the likelihood of achieving our goals, whether they are personal, academic, or professional

So always try and regret than doing it at all . you’ll feel empowered to try new things and to put yourself out in the world more.

It’s often better to regret what you did than what you didn’t because taking action even if it fails teaches lessons and shows effort. Regret from inaction can linger longer, leaving you wondering “what if” for years. Trying, failing, and learning builds experience, resilience, and self-respect, whereas never trying keeps you stuck and limits growth. In short, it’s better to act boldly and learn from the outcome than to let fear hold you back and wonder about missed opportunities.

Many people believe it’s better to regret what you did than what you didn’t because taking action—even if it fails—teaches lessons and creates experience. Regret from inaction can last longer because you often wonder “what if” and miss opportunities entirely. Doing something, even imperfectly, gives you a chance to grow, learn, and improve for the future. While mistakes can be painful, they are often temporary and manageable, whereas missed opportunities may never return. Ultimately, taking calculated risks and learning from outcomes tends to lead to personal growth and fewer long-term regrets.

But when the regret is because you did not do something that might have been very easy is one of the worst kind of regret in life because some people even take it till the end of their life.

That is the reason why you should be taking any opportunity before you as young man.
