It is good to spend more time together. You eat, sleep, talk, bathe, walk, pray and dress together this would bring the closeness you desire, if well handled, facilitates unity among husband and wife.
Another way to foster is to accept each other with their strengths and weaknesses. Respect each other. Trust each other. Care for each other. Empathize with each other. Compliment each other. Share your vision. Communicate openly and honestly. Have fun together. Touch each other by holding hands, hugging. Enjoy boring stuff together. These activities would create better bonding and bring oneness to the mix
So partners should be engaging in physical contact if both partners want to, and doing things to have fun and make memories together, like attending a one-time class.
