You can start earning money online in Nigeria with just your phone and internet. But it depends on your skill, time, and how serious you are. Here’s how I personally started and what works for many Nigerians:
1. Freelancing (Upwork, Fiverr, Remotasks)
I began with Remotasks doing image labeling—earned about ₦45,000 in my first month. Later moved to Fiverr where I now write bios, CVs, and short articles for $10–$50. You can offer graphic design, voice-over, translation, or even WhatsApp status advertising.
2. Content Creation (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram)
People are now earning from reels, skits, and tutorials. Once you grow audience, you can monetize via brand deals or join creator programs. But it takes consistency and quality content. I’ve seen students in UI and UNILAG earn ₦200k monthly from TikTok.
3. Affiliate Marketing
Sites like Expertnaire and Stakecut allow you sell other people’s products and earn commission (₦10k to ₦50k per sale). All you need is an audience, maybe through WhatsApp or Facebook ads.
4. Online Surveys & Microtasks
Not huge money, but sites like Swagbucks, ySense and Timebucks pay for clicking ads, watching videos, or taking surveys. Perfect for students looking for airtime or light data cash.
5. Sell Digital Products
If you have knowledge (e.g. baking, makeup, forex), package it into eBooks or video courses and sell through Selar or Paystack links.
6. Blogging & SEO Writing
It takes time but pays well. My blog now makes money from Google AdSense and sponsored posts. You just need a niche, basic writing skills, and commitment.
Raw Advice: Don’t fall for Ponzi or fake “investment” schemes. If someone says “double your money in 2 days” — run.
Instead, pick one legit skill, learn fast (YouTube is free), and stay consistent. Small $2 today can grow into $200/month in a few months if you focus. Which one are you starting with?
