How much profit will make you stop working?

I very often ask myself such a question because I do not know the ultimate goal to which I am striving. I have general plans, but I have not yet determined the exact amount that will allow me to not work. I constantly invest the money I earn, so I don’t have any profit left and I have to continue working to pay for my needs, and it’s been like this for more than 5 years. However, I think that as soon as the value of my portfolio crosses the 50 thousand dollar mark, I will be able to stop reinvesting the profit and spend it on myself and my needs

In fact I wouldn’t even advocate one to stop working no matter how much you have or profit you make daily. It’s better to keep working so that you don’t go broke untimely. Because if you do not work you might get yourself stuck in fixed with money issues

And if you start a transport business for example you can make money from day one, so it is all about perspective.

Once your investments can cover your needs, you can start spending some profit while keeping enough invested to grow steadily. It’s really about finding a balance between enjoying your money now and continuing to secure your future.

How much profit will make someone stop working depends entirely on their lifestyle, responsibilities, and long-term financial goals. There is no fixed amount, but the real question is whether the profit can consistently cover your living expenses without the business collapsing. To stop working comfortably, the income must be enough to pay rent, food, bills, transportation, health needs, emergencies, and still leave room for savings. Many people use the rule that you can stop working when your profit is 3–5 times higher than your monthly expenses, and it stays stable for years, not months. You also need backup savings, emergency funds, and a system that runs even when you’re not actively working every day. Without financial discipline and planning, even a high profit can disappear quickly, so the “stop working” point depends more on stability, not just how big the amount looks.

And beside, the amount of money you’ve made should not propel you to  retire. Elon Musk has a made Billions of dollars over the years and he is working towards making more. So leaving your work because you think you have made much profit is unwise.
