To stop excessive use of social media, start by setting clear limits for how much time you spend online each day. Use built-in features like “Digital Wellbeing” or “Screen Time” to monitor and control usage. Turn off unnecessary notifications—they constantly pull your attention back. Replace scrolling time with productive habits like reading, exercising, or learning new skills. Try having no-phone zones, such as during meals or before bed. Unfollow accounts that don’t add value and schedule breaks from social media weekly. Most importantly, stay intentional—use social media for specific goals, not boredom. With discipline and awareness, you can regain control of your time and focus.

Cutting down on social media isn’t always easy, but it starts with noticing how much time it takes from your day. What works for me is turning off notifications so I’m not constantly drawn in. I also set daily time limits for the apps and try to stay busy with other things I enjoy like reading, exercising, or spending time offline. Sometimes, I even delete the apps for a while just to reset. You don’t have to quit totally, but finding balance makes a big difference.
