This is basically one of the problem why it is never advisable for one individual to be so much in debt because he or she may find it hard to choose which particular debt to pay off first. However if an individual is looking for the best solution or answer to this question it is expected that he or she starts from clearing higher debts, the reason is because clearing higher debts totally makes him or her have more space as well as more mental security to settle down and clear other smaller debts. Sometimes they hired the amount of money to be cleared as debts, the higher the rate of problems associated with it.

Personally, I will go for the debt that is the most disturbing. They are some creditors that are really stressful so i would want to tackle their debt first and try to pay up. I might not want to go with the first come first serve basis if the last creditor on my list isn’t cooperative. I would want to quickly pay such a person off to get such huge trouble off my back.

It is always good to pay off debt no matter what but one need to check the one that might be more pressing to pay off to get peace of mind

You should start with paying off those debts that have high interest rates. That way, you prevent it from growing even bigger and costing more to pay back.

You also need to see how the loans are affecting your personal life. Especially those loans that you are asked to pay back fast. It can be so frustrating if you are being harassed to pay back a loan. You better clear it and reclaim your peace.

Another thing you need to check is amount. I always pay off small loans first while paying off the big ones is installments. You should choose a strategy that works for you and stick to it.

Here are some tips for prioritizing which debts to pay off first:

    • Pay minimums on all debts first. This avoids late fees and protects your credit.
    • Pay off highest interest rate debts first. Credit cards and short-term loans tend to have very high interest rates, so focus on eliminating them.
    • Consider balances. Paying off a smaller balance first gives a sense of accomplishment and frees up cash flow faster.
    • Pay off secured debts next. Loans secured by collateral you could lose like cars or homes are more urgent.
    • Look at long-term vs short-term debt. Get rid of high-interest revolving credit card balances before tackling student loans.
    • Make extra payments to highest priority debts. Put any extra money, bonuses, tax refunds towards top priority debts first.
    • Avoid prepayment penalties. Some lenders charge fees for paying loans off early, factor these in.
    • Evaluate importance. Wiping out a maxed out card may help improve credit score faster than a medium-sized student loan.
    • Consider psychological boosts. Alternate larger and smaller debts to create a sense of progress.
    • Reassess regularly. As debts change, re-evaluate the priority order. Higher balances or interest rates may change priorities.

Eliminating high-interest, unsecured debts first improves cash flow and allows you to pay down lower priority debts more quickly. The optimal order depends on your specific situation.
