To build muscle and get abs, focus on a mix of consistent strength training, proper nutrition, and recovery. Lift weights or do bodyweight exercises 4–6 times a week, targeting different muscle groups, and progressively increase intensity. Eat enough protein and calories to support muscle growth, while keeping carbs and healthy fats balanced. Abs will show more clearly if you maintain a low body fat through cardio and clean eating. Sleep, hydration, and rest days are just as important muscles grow while you recover, not just in the gym. Consistency beats quick fixes.

You can grow your muscles and abs in a healthy and safe way, especially at your age, by focusing on good habits rather than extreme workouts or diets.
First, exercise regularly but smartly. Do basic strength exercises like push-ups, squats, lunges, planks, sit-ups, leg raises, and light resistance training. Train about 3–4 times a week, giving your body rest days so muscles can recover and grow. Abs grow like any muscle, so working your whole body is important—not just stomach exercises.
Second, eat balanced meals, not restrictive diets. Your body needs energy to grow. Eat foods with protein (beans, eggs, fish, chicken, milk), carbohydrates (rice, yam, garri, bread), healthy fats (groundnuts, avocado), and plenty of fruits and vegetables. Skipping meals or starving yourself will slow muscle growth.
Third, sleep well. Aim for 7–9 hours of sleep because muscles grow during rest, not during workouts. Lastly, be patient and consistent. Visible abs take time and genetics also play a role. Focus on being strong and healthy, not comparing your body to others.
