Nigeria is very rich blessed with crude oil that should be enough to make us comfortable as citizens but that is not the case because our leaders embezzle the money and use it to train themselves and families abroad.

Nigeria’s leaders significantly contribute to the country’s challenges through corruption and poor governance. Policies often prioritize elite interests over public welfare, deepening poverty and unrest. Reforms like subsidy removal, while strategic, lack safety nets, worsening economic hardship. Historical ethnic favoritism and military rule have weakened trust and institutions.

However, external factors like oil price swings amplify issues, but mismanagement is central. Public frustration, voiced on platforms like X, highlights leadership failures. However, weak institutions and societal complicity also play roles. Progress requires ethical, inclusive governance and collective accountability.

When it comes to the issue of Nigeria, it is extremely easy to put the blame on rhe leaders alone, but the truth of the matter is while the leaders have a hand in the state of the country, they are not the only problem here.  We the masses still have a role to play. Those who carry out the evil deeds of the leaders today are citizens of the country. The arm robbers, kidnappers and so on are citizens and not leaders. Those who cheat their customers are also citizens and not leaders. We are all responsible for the state of Nigeria, and if we truly want change, the change has to come from you and me first.
