Let’s face it: AI tools like Midjourney, DALL·E, and Canva’s Magic Studio are already handling logos, social media designs, and mockups faster than many humans can sketch. If all you do is basic design without creativity or strategy, you’ll be irrelevant soon.
But smart designers are already using AI as an assistant—not a threat.
They use AI to:
A friend runs a branding agency in Lagos. She uses AI to create 10 quick variations of a logo concept, then spends her time refining the best one. Clients love the speed and quality—and she’s earning more, not less.
So no—AI won’t kill the field. It will kill the routine. Strategy, emotion, and storytelling still need a human mind. The designers who survive are the ones who evolve and build real creative value—not just Photoshop skills.
Adapt or disappear. That’s the game.

As a graphic designer, i would like to believe and hope AI does not take over graphic designing in the next ten years, but the truth of the matter is that it is likely possible for this to happen, especially with the rate at which ai is improving. I have seen people create some designs with graphic designing. At the moment AI still has a lot to improve before they can fully compete with real graphic designers, but if it keeps going on like this it might really give we graphic designers a run for our money.
