I am currently using ChatGPT for image generation and from my own experience it has been pretty impressive especially with the more recent updates they have pushed out. The quality and detail you can get from a well written prompt is genuinely solid. I have not spent as much time with Gemini’s image generation to do a completely fair comparison but from what I have seen ChatGPT still feels like the stronger option for most use cases right now.
