I tell people to choose proffesional course in jamb so that even if government fail you, you can’t fail yourself.

You pick up your certificate and experience and go far in life.

Cert is good i mean education if you have the connection, to go to top you will do better for yourself be it proffesional or random course.

Microbiologist are looked down on do you know that my superior studied this course and it took her round the world it took her places some people cannot go.

So both are good skill and education if combined together is the best

Both acquiring skills and schooling are important, but in today’s world, skills often have a greater impact on success. Schooling provides theoretical knowledge, discipline, and formal qualifications, which are valuable for structured careers like medicine or law. However, skills—such as digital marketing, design, communication, or programming—equip you to solve real-world problems and earn income independently. Many graduates struggle because they rely only on certificates without practical abilities. The best approach is to combine both: use schooling as a foundation and build practical skills that match your career goals. In the modern economy, skills open doors that certificates alone cannot.

If  there was an option for both, that would have been my choice. I personally think it would be best to do both as they are equally important. These days going to school and getting the best results does not always guarantee a bright future, having a skill can also help, while replying on having a skill alone cannot help you compete with those that are educated. Having both on the other hand, gives you an edge over the others.

I’d also choose acquiring skills if the goal is financial freedom. Skills let you create opportunities and earn money without waiting for a traditional job. However, schooling can still be valuable because it gives you foundational knowledge, critical thinking, and sometimes opens doors to better opportunities. In my opinion, focusing on practical skills while learning from school or online courses is the best way to secure both financial independence and personal growth.

The two are very important in life. But I rather go for acquiring skills with some reasons:

Acquiring skills allows you to set your own pace and choose what skills to focus on.

Cost-Effective: Many resources for self-learning, such as online tutorials, videos, and books, are often more affordable.

Practical Focus: You can tailor your learning to directly match your career goals and interests.

Continuous Learning: Self-learners often have a mindset of ongoing improvement and adaptability. But all this does not mean that acquiring skills is better than schooling.
