Certainly, here are three reasons why people might avoid online banks:

Security Concerns: Some individuals worry about the security of their personal and financial information when using online banking platforms, fearing the potential for data breaches or cyberattacks.

Lack of In-Person Services: Traditional banks offer face-to-face interactions, which some people prefer for discussing complex financial matters or seeking personalized advice. Online banks may not provide the same level of in-person assistance.

Technology Challenges: Not everyone is comfortable using digital platforms for financial transactions. People who are less tech-savvy might feel overwhelmed or unsure about navigating online banking interfaces effectively

So many reasons exist while individuals avoid online Banks, but some of the most prominent reasons are basically the fact that most online banks are literally don’t banks but rather they are fraudsters and scammers who are looking for one way or the other to steal money from others in terms of free loan and grants. Requesting for a loan or Grant online you will have to fill in your personal details and from the individuals can blackmail you with this details or possibly steal from your own offline bank account. Another possible reason people do not trust or carry out online banking is because of the activities involved before an individual can earn loan.

Online banking and known to be very much Swift and quicker in issuing loan to individuals however what is not clear is how the require so many paperwork and requirements for individuals to engage him or herself into before actually receiving the loan

I cannot say about other countries, however, in my country, most of the commercial banks offer online banking services. If you subscribe to online banking services, you can log in your account through a website or mobile app. You can easily send funds, check statement, make payments, and make purchases through web and mobile applications. These services have fees attached, however, perfectly safe to use as they are just the online version of a proper bank.

I think the poster was more about depositing your money with online banks not just using the services of a physical offline banks. I think there are apps that you can store your money with them online. Like the opay app that I have though I’m yet to start using it , you can deposit money with then and you can store your money with them as a bank.
But my fear is always that of security , how secured they are because you can only contact them through mails and if you issue can’t he resolved through the nails then there’s nothielwe to do about it.

Yesh, I’m one of those shunning online banks or even doung any investment online for now. Maybe I might change my mind in the future but for now it is not a cup of tea for me. Like you have rightly stated, maybe because it is very still new for me. I don’t like stories that touches with my hard earned money so I try to protect it as possible as I can. I don’t even like the idea of it for now leaving my money in the hands of people that I don’t know it is a difficult one.

Here are 3 common reasons why some people avoid using online banks:

    1. Prefer in-person banking – Many like the personalized service and familiarity of physically going to a local branch and interacting with tellers and bankers face-to-face. Online banks operate fully digitally.
    2. Security concerns – Some have doubts about the security of online banking, worrying their accounts and information may be more susceptible to hackers without a physical branch.
    3. Technological barriers – Particularly older demographics, may not be as tech-savvy and struggle with the idea of managing accounts fully through a website or app rather than paperwork.

However, while understandable, these concerns are often misplaced:

    • Many online banks offer high-quality customer service via phone, chat, email or video call to replace in-person interactions.
    • Online banks utilize top-notch security measures like encryption, multi-factor authentication, biometrics etc. to fully protect accounts.
    • User-friendly websites and intuitive mobile apps make digital banking easy for anyone once learned. Some even have physical service centers.

With FDIC insurance on accounts and robust cybersecurity, online banking offers a convenient alternative to traditional banks with few downsides for the vast majority of customers. But overcoming old perceptions takes time.
