Yes sure, you own your life and can make decisions for yourself, there are different ways to approach this, if you have a family, it won't be proper to just abandon a safe job for the unknown, but if you're single I'll advise you just jump right in and start a business. Staying in a low paying job is not a good idea when time is not on your side, so as the saying goes, make hay while the sun shines.
