I’m curious because I’ve been reading about the amount of Allstate agencies that are up for sale, and I was wondering if you had any insight as to why that would be the case. Please let me know if you do. Do you believe that it may have something to do with the fact that Allstate is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, which is recognized as an investor that acquires firms and then lets them run themselves? If so, what do you think that could be? Is there a particular facet of this model of agency that sets it apart from others in a way that makes it more appealing? Or is it just a natural consequence of the current slump in the economy?
My curiosity stems from the fact that I personally operate an agency, and recently I’ve been contemplating the possibility of selling it. Since my family already owns numerous other businesses, they are interested in purchasing it, but before they make a choice, they want to have a better understanding of what they will be getting themselves into.
I really appreciate it!
