This is an individual decision that one has to make on their own. Personally, I think it is a great idea. Especially if you are dealing with loans that have really high interest rates that keep compounding.

You may decide to sell those things that you rarely use. Maybe you don’t watch tv that much or you have this old laptop that you don’t use anymore. Selling it to pay off debts would be great.

This also works well for those debts that affect your personal life. You know, those shylocks that threaten you when you don’t pay them back. It is better to sell your TV, pay them back and get your peace back.

I know your logic is that you want to save the money then pay a huge amount at once. It is not bad, except that you will be tempted many times to spend some of your saved money.

Also, some loan lenders reduce or cut interests when they see you paying off debt even in small amounts.

You could also get a side hustle and direct all your earnings from there to paying off debt. Online eating or starting an online business is one great side hustle. You could also get a second offline job.

Then asses how much money you make and how much you need to spend on your expenses. You may have to cut back on your expenses so that you can have more money remaining to pay off debts.

You may have to hold saving and investment so that you can clear debt first. Then after you clear, find ways that will ensure that you don’t fall back to debt again.

Then whenever you earn money, spend it on your set budget and save the surplus. It would also be great to invest the money into a business that can assure you regular income and an extra earning that will cover for your expenses.

Most people start with having a job. Then they invest the money they earn from the job into a business or investment venture.

It is important that you keep investing any money you earn. That way, it continues growing and you have a constant cash flow.

As you manage the small amount that you have, you get motivated to earn more as you know what you are lacking. Soon, you will be seeing new opportunities to earn better income.

Which will be great as you already practiced to manage money. When you start earning higher amounts, you will be better at managing it too.

There is no one size fits all for the amount needed to start a business. Each business is unique with different factors that determine how much you will use to start a business. One of the factors is the size of the business. Starting small will require a lower amount of capital that if you start large scale.

Another factor to look at is the type of business to start and what you need to start it with. I usually see that service businesses require less capital than trading businesses.

The requirements of your business will also determine how much you need. Some businesses require use of machines while others don’t. Others can be ran alone while others may require you to hire labourers.
