To link your NIN to your SIM (MTN, Airtel, Glo, or 9mobile), the process is simple but you need to make sure your NIN is correct and active.

First, if you don’t remember your NIN, you can retrieve it by dialing *346# from the phone number you used during registration. Follow the prompts and select the option to retrieve NIN. A small fee may apply.

After getting your NIN, you can link it to your line using the official NIN linking menu. The easiest method for most networks is dialing *996# and following the instructions to submit your NIN.

If that does not work, each network has its own method:

    • MTN: *785#
    • Airtel: 1211#
    • Glo: *109#
    • 9mobile: 2008#

Once you submit it, wait for confirmation. It may take a few minutes or a few hours to reflect. In some cases, you will receive an SMS confirming successful linkage.

One important thing to note is that your SIM details must match your NIN details. If your name, date of birth, or other details are different, the linking may fail. In that case, you will need to visit a customer care center to correct your SIM registration.

Avoid paying random agents online who claim they can link your NIN for you. The process is free or done directly through your network.

This is what many people try, but it’s risky.

    People do:

    • VPN to US/UK
    • fake address generator
    • random foreign number apps

It may open, but PayPal will later ask for:

    • utility bill
    • bank statement
    • ID verification

If you can’t provide it, they lock the account and hold funds for up to 180 days.

So if your goal is to receive money, this method can make you lose money.

    Avoid Buying “Foreign PayPal Accounts”

In 2026, buying PayPal accounts is one of the fastest ways to get scammed because:

    • seller can recover the account anytime
    • account may be stolen
    • PayPal may permanently ban it
    • you can lose all your funds

Best Alternatives (Safer than Foreign PayPal)

If your goal is to receive international money from abroad, use these instead:

    ✅Paga
    ✅ Wise
    ✅ Grey
    ✅ Geegpay
✅ Sendwave / Remitly (for personal transfers)
✅ Crypto USDT (only if you understand it)

These are more stable for Nigerians than trying to force foreign PayPal.

If you do not have a valid foreign address and documents, do not waste time trying to create a foreign PayPal account. You may succeed today, but you can lose the money later.

To be honest, Nigeria PayPal accounts have limitations. Most Nigerian PayPal accounts can send payments but may not receive money normally like US/UK PayPal accounts.
However, if your goal is to receive money from abroad, there are still working methods.
The easiest way is to open a PayPal business account with Nigeria selected, then link your card and verify your email. Some Nigerians can receive payments through PayPal invoicing or payment links depending on the account type.
    Steps:

    • Go to PayPal.com
    • Select Nigeria as your country
    • Choose business account (recommended)
    • Add your correct email and details
    • Link your card and confirm it
    • Verify your identity if asked

If PayPal receiving is restricted for your account, you may need alternatives like Payoneer, Wise, Grey, or Geegpay, which allow you receive USD/GBP and withdraw to Nigerian bank easily.
One warning: avoid trying to create US/UK PayPal using fake details. It may work at first but PayPal will later request proof of address and can lock your funds for months.
If you want to receive international payments smoothly, Wise and Payoneer are usually more reliable than PayPal for Nigerians.

For most Nigerians, PayPal doesn’t allow direct withdrawal to a local bank account, especially if it’s a standard personal account. So you need an intermediary service.

One option some people use is Paga, but it’s not a direct PayPal withdrawal feature in the usual sense. Instead, it works as a financial bridge depending on availability and supported services at the time. You typically move funds through linked services or approved partners, then cash out to your Nigerian bank account.

Other commonly used options include services like Payoneer or fintech platforms that support USD wallets, then you convert and withdraw to naira.

Bottom line: there’s no straight PayPal → Nigerian bank transfer for most users, so you rely on supported third-party platforms. Always confirm current availability because these integrations change often in Nigeria.

In 2026, PayPal still doesn’t fully support direct withdrawal to Nigerian bank accounts for many users. So Nigerians mainly withdraw PayPal money using trusted third-party platforms.

Below are the best working methods that people actually use.

    1. Withdraw PayPal Funds Using Paga (Best for Nigerians)

Paga remains one of the most reliable ways to withdraw PayPal money in Nigeria because you can link your PayPal to your Paga account and transfer funds into your Paga wallet.

    How it works

    • You connect your PayPal inside the Paga app
    • Withdraw your PayPal balance into your Paga Naira wallet
    • Then transfer to your bank account

    Steps

    1. Download and register on Paga
    2. Complete verification (KYC)
    3. Go to PayPal Linking / PayPal Withdrawal
    4. Link your PayPal account
    5. Withdraw from PayPal to Paga wallet
    6. Transfer from Paga to your Nigerian bank

A friend of mine that does freelance writing receives payments through PayPal monthly. Instead of using exchangers, he withdraws straight into Paga and sends it to his Access Bank account the same day.

    Caution

    • Paga may charge fees depending on the amount
    • Sometimes withdrawals may take hours or up to 24 hours during verification checks
    • Always use the same PayPal name as your Paga details to avoid account issues
