Personally i don’t think there is anything like too early when it comes to teaching your kids how to save. They moment you know they can understand, you quickly introduce to them the habit of saving. My sister’s kids started saving around the age of 4 and 5. On one of their birthdays, the gift they asked for was a savings box. I believe the earlier you teach them how to save, it makes it a lot easier for them to get used to it. Even before they fully understand what money is used for, whenever someone gives them money, take it and tell them you are saving it for them, out of curiosity they will ask you what this savings is and would want to try it themselves.

Several factors influence how much a person can save. Income level is the most important, since higher earnings usually allow for more savings. Expenses and lifestyle choices also matter—people who budget and avoid unnecessary spending save more. Inflation reduces the real value of money, making disciplined saving harder. Financial goals such as buying property or paying for education can motivate higher savings. Other influences include interest rates, access to banking services, family responsibilities, debt obligations, and personal habits. Even psychological factors like patience, self-control, and money management skills play a role. Together, these shape how consistently and effectively someone is able to save.

For free or inexpensive alternatives, look into online libraries and open educational resources (OERs). Additional cost savings can be achieved by renting or selling textbooks once the course has ended. Some needed texts might be accessible for free through campus libraries.
