Yes, there are several strategies to save money on transportation:

1. **Use Public Transit**: Utilize buses, trains, and subways whenever possible, as they are usually more cost-effective than owning a car.

2. **Carpooling**: Share rides with friends, colleagues, or neighbors to split the cost of gas and parking.

3. **Biking or Walking**: Consider cycling or walking for short trips instead of driving. It’s not only economical but also good for your health.

4. **Car Maintenance**: Keep your car well-maintained to improve fuel efficiency and avoid costly repairs.

5. **Ridesharing Services**: Use ridesharing apps like Uber and Lyft sparingly, and opt for shared rides or carpools to save money.

6. **Fuel Efficiency**: Drive efficiently by maintaining a steady speed and avoiding excessive idling to save on gas.

7. **Carpool Lane Access**: If you carpool regularly, check if you qualify for carpool lane access, which can save time and money on your commute.

8. **Flexible Work Arrangements**: Explore options like telecommuting or flexible work schedules to reduce your commuting expenses.

9. **Comparison Shop for Insurance**: Periodically compare auto insurance rates to ensure you’re getting the best deal.

10. **Consider Hybrid or Electric Vehicles**: If you’re in the market for a new car, consider a hybrid or electric vehicle to save on fuel costs over time.

11. **Avoid Rush Hour**: If possible, schedule your trips during non-peak hours to reduce the time you spend in traffic and save on fuel.

12. **Negotiate Fuel Discounts**: Some grocery stores and retailers offer fuel discounts when you shop with them.

13. **Use Gas Price Apps**: Apps like GasBuddy can help you find the cheapest gas prices in your area.

14. **Park Strategically**: Look for free or low-cost parking options, and consider park-and-ride facilities for long commutes.

15. **Maintain a Budget**: Track your transportation expenses to identify areas where you can cut costs.

Remember that the most effective strategy may vary depending on your location and individual circumstances. Combining several of these approaches can help you maximize your savings on transportation.

Those are great ways to save on transportation that you have mentioned. I love the idea of taking a walk or biking. Those are neglected yet the best transport methods. The not only help you save but they also keep you healthy and fit.

You could walk or cycle a short distance when you are going for long trips to work or school. Then you can cover the rest of the journey by public transport. You could also do the vice versa by taking public transport for half the distance then cycling or walking the rest.

It also helps to live near your place of work or school. That way, you won’t have to pay for transportation daily. When you are near, you can just walk there.

It is not as if spending money heavily is not good, however if we are to spend money heavily it must be for the right thing that will yield the expected benefits that we are expecting to get. Of course I need the vehicle does not expect to spend a small amount of money when he or she want to get assets like a car or a house, he or she should expect to spend heavily to get assets like this. Moreover, spending heavily without thinking of the benefits can be absolutely bad, also spending heavily on things that will not give us any benefits can also be bad. We need to consider the ups and downs in any heavy spending that we intend doing.

Investing in online/internet stocks can certainly be viable, but like any investment it comes with risks and considerations:

    Potential advantages:

    • Huge growth potential as more commerce moves online each year
    • Internet companies benefit from network effects and scaling
    • Low overhead compared to brick-and-mortar businesses
    • Ability to disrupt traditional business models

    Risks/challenges:

    • High competition means constantly innovating and adapting
    • Lower barriers to entry compared to other industries
    • Relatively newer sector so harder to predict long-term winners
    • Potential for technology shifts to disrupt established players
    • Regulatory threats always loom for tech companies

Tips if investing in internet stocks:

    • Diversify across e-commerce, social media, digital ads, and emerging tech
    • Look for signs of sustainable competitive advantages
    • Focus on companies with clear paths to profitability
    • Be wary of excessive valuations and hype during periods of optimism
    • Maintain small position sizes for individual internet stocks

On balance, internet stocks can thrive in portfolios, but need balanced exposure like other equities. Given the sector’s growth outlook, they merit consideration while managing risks.
