Yes you actually made the payment which is good, but delaying the payment can have a negative effect on your credit score. Another thing that can have a negative effect on your credit score is not paying the loan at all, or even having a negative public review about you could also affect it.

For a while now PayPal in Nigeria has been limited to just sending money. Which means why you could open a PayPal account, you could only send money and not receive from others.

Currently in 2026, things have changed. With a Nigerian PayPal account, you can easily send and receive money from outside the country, but to be able to break this limitation, you need to link your PayPal account to a paga account.

Recently paga ( a payment processing platform in Nigeria) went into partnership with PayPal, hence you can easily link your PayPal account to your paga account, which allows you to receive money and also easily convert it to naira and it gets sent directly to your paga account, and then you can withdraw to your bank account.

Using a bank as your investment agent is basically letting them manage or guide your money into safer options like savings plans, fixed deposits, or mutual funds. You start by opening an account and asking about their investment products, then choose one based on how much risk you can handle. The benefit is it’s more secure and less stressful than doing everything yourself, but the downside is returns are usually lower and there may be fees. It’s a good option if you want steady growth without constantly monitoring the market, especially as a beginner.

The next step is to go to the bank and request a new one. They might give you a form to fill.

I have received money through PayPal xoom two times now, and i must say, the experience was pretty okay and fast. You need to ensure the person who is sending the money needs to use your correct name that is in your identity card, and also send you the transaction number. This is what the bank needs to confirm the transaction. In Nigeria, the money comes in through RIA. So ensure you tell the bank ria and not PayPal xoom.

Then if it’s an old card, it’s also possible that the card is worn out or faulty which is why it has become hard for it to read correctly. Then it could simply be network issue from the bank itself. In such case, you can easily try again after awhile.
