    • Go ask for access to all your contacts
    • Fit disgrace you if you no pay
    • Go hit you with interest wey go make you shout

Better still, give them BVN, use legit apps like Carbon or FairMoney, and borrow small-small till your limit grow. That’s the honest route.

Something similar happened to me around late last year or there about. It was a weekend and i needed a quick withdrawal, so i decided to use a POS close by, i was debited instantly but the transaction failed. The POS lady said she has requested for reversal through the POS machine. All through the weekend the money was not reversed, it was on Monday i finally got the money back. In cases like this all you need to do is patiently wait, if it happened within the week you money will definitely come back that same day or in some cases the next. If after awhile there is still no reversal, you can contact your bank and report the issue.

Step 1: Sign Up on PayPal Nigeria
Go to paypal.com/ng, choose Business Account, enter your email, phone number, and address. Accept the terms and confirm via email.

Step 2: Link a Valid Card
Use a Visa or Mastercard—Verve cards usually fail. PayPal charges a small verification fee ($1–$2) to confirm the card. Confirm via OTP from your SMS.

Step 3: How to Receive Money
Since Nigerian PayPal accounts are limited to sending only, to receive money you have three options:
    • Open a PayPal Business account under an eligible country (Lesotho, South Africa, UAE).
    • Use Flutterwave Business—enable PayPal on your checkout page and receive payments that way.
    • Receive payments, then withdraw via Payoneer, Wise, Skrill, Binance P2P.

You cannot withdraw directly to a Nigerian bank from PayPal. Always use one of the exchange or withdrawal services mentioned.

You know why Binance is no dey work with Nigerian banks? Na both regulatory pressure and trust issues. Back in 2021, CBN banned banks from handling crypto exchanges—so banks dey avoid Binance transactions just to stay safe. That ban was supposedly lifted in December 2023, but the regulatory tension never went away. In early 2024, the very security authorities blocked Binance’s website and P2P transfers, blaming it for messing up the naira rate and forex stability. Not long after, Binance stopped accepting naira deposits or withdrawals and started converting users’ Naira balances into USDT. So even if CBN made a U-turn with the VASP license, Binance still can’t fully work with local banks because of ongoing legal drama and trust gaps. Nigerian users now mostly use peer exchanges, crypto bridges, or foreign accounts to access services.

In 2025, the cheapest POS machine you can get without stress is from Moniepoint. They’re still offering it for around ₦21,500 with easy onboarding and low daily targets. The thing I like about them is that once you meet the transaction requirement, you don’t get charged hidden fees like some other platforms.

If you’re just starting out, Opay is also a strong option. You can get their mini POS for between ₦15,000 to ₦20,000 depending on your agent. But the full Android type costs more. Some people say Palmpay gives out free POS—yes, but only if you’re hitting serious targets monthly. If you don’t, they’ll collect it back or fine you.

From experience, I’d say don’t chase the cheapest blindly. Look at how fast it works, how easy it is to get support, and how much they’ll deduct per transaction. Cheap POS with bad support can frustrate your customers and kill your street credibility.

If you’re serious about the business, go for one with low charges and stable uptime. It’s better to invest once than replace POS every few months.

Start by checking the basics—make sure the POS device is fully charged and the SIM card has strong network signal. A shop owner in Benin City once had transactions failing all day until he realized the MTN SIM inside had expired data.

If the terminal still won’t connect, restart it and confirm your account is active with your provider (OPay, Moniepoint, or PalmPay).

If transactions are declining but balance is being debited, call the support line immediately and keep the transaction reference number handy. For printing issues, open the paper roll compartment and check that the thermal paper is loaded correctly. When all else fails, visit the nearest support center for a device swap, because sometimes it’s simply a hardware fault.
