The main difference is that pure chemistry focuses on understanding the theories and principles behind chemical reactions, often leading to research or academic careers. Applied chemistry, on the other hand, is about using that knowledge to solve practical problems in industries like pharmaceuticals, agriculture, food, or manufacturing. If you enjoy deep scientific study and possibly going into teaching or research, pure chemistry is a good path. But if you’re more interested in hands-on work and getting into industry faster, applied chemistry might be the better choice.
