The western world is now affecting us in Africa and making us think that there is no need to punish a child but certainly I believe that when you spare the rod, you spoil the child. So if the child is misbehaving there is a need to publicly punish him sometimes  because it helps him understand that he can face the same thing in thefuture if he tries what he did again and that will be so humbling for him..

I believe Discipline In Private is better . In most cases, a  child is more likely to be responsive and learn what to do in the future when removed from a crowd. Some people believing that a child should be cautioned and appropriate punishment meted there and then when an infraction occurs isn’t right.

Scolding your child in public may leave them feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable, possibly putting strain on your relationship. Generally I don’t subscribe to scolding or punishing children anyway. I manage and support them. I teach and reward them.

it’s not bad to discipline kids in public as long as you do it the right way.

Instead, correct privately, explain why the behavior was wrong, set clear consequences ahead of time, and follow through calmly. If a public slip-up already happened, apologize, repair the relationship, and use it as a quiet teaching moment so the child learns without feeling humiliated.

Then again i believe there are some punishment that is not ment to be done in public as it might affect the child’s moral or even create a negative image for you the parent. As most people might not understand your reasons for doing so.

Humiliating a child in public as a means of discipline is generally not acceptable and it can be  considered ineffective and harmful. Research in this suggests that such methods can have several negative consequences:

Occasionally it may be necessary to reprove your child but not in front of others but most of the time, if others are around, it would be better to take the child into another room or quietly instruct him in his ear.
